Ready to Respond: The Power of Asset Visibility in Public Safety & Justice

When the call comes, your teams need equipment they can count on. But when asset information lives in spreadsheets, disconnected systems, and people’s heads, answering basic questions becomes difficult: What do we have? Is it ready? What needs replacing and what will it cost?

Join Ondaro and former assistant fire chief Jim Hanson for a practical conversation about how better asset visibility helps public safety leaders strengthen operational readiness and make a credible case for the resources their teams need. Drawing on his experience overseeing fleet, logistics, and facilities, Jim will share lessons from uncovering overlooked inventory, understanding equipment costs, and bringing reliable data to budget discussions.

We’ll also explore how ServiceNow can connect asset information and maintenance workflows, with a focused demonstration showing how leaders can track critical equipment, address service needs, and plan for replacement.

You’ll learn how to:

  • See what equipment is available, in service, or due for maintenance or replacement.
  • Connect inventory, maintenance, and cost information to support everyday decisions.
  • Build budget requests grounded in actual operating needs and lifecycle costs.

Designed for public safety leaders responsible for logistics, fleet, facilities, operations, and budgets across fire, EMS, law enforcement, and corrections.

Jim Hanson

Jim Hanson has a background rooted in public service, having served over three decades in Fire and EMS, most recently as an Assistant Fire Chief in Washington, D.C. Jim has led large-scale incidents of national significance and implemented business systems to improve emergency response, workforce development, logistics, and interagency coordination. From deploying cloud-based onboarding systems to launching tactical information tools for multi-agency use, Jim is passionate about leveraging technology for solving complex problems that make a real impact on people’s lives.

That experience shaped his focus on visibility. When leaders can see where their assets are, what condition they’re in, and whether they’re ready to deploy, they make faster decisions and respond more effectively. At ServiceNow, Jim helps law enforcement, fire/ems, corrections, and emergency management agencies bring that clarity to their operations. He works with them to strengthen operational readiness, track critical assets, and improve coordination across agencies.
